I have a thury or etcher untagged that won't slurry with anything but a DMT credit card and then it is a very thin slurry. It is yellow green in color. I got it from Howard some time ago and he got it from A rabi butcher in Israel. Thing is,It is the best finisher I have. And I have 5 etcher hones and almost all the ceramics.

it's just a rock and to get it to slurry you need something either equally as hard or harder.You can use softer but then the slurry stone will be the slurry you get. As to the consistency of the slurry there are many things that control that including how hard you rub and the make-up of both stones.
Nope, I've had a number of the various color Eschers come and go, and some that stayed, and I've yet to see one that won't slurry with a slurry stone. Matter of fact, AFAIK, the feature that made the yellow/green the most expensive of the colors on the old price lists was the softness compared to the others. Does the stone have a label on it ?

No label but it compares with two of my other stones except for the size. here are some pics in comparison to t blue green you once owned...I think you got it from Lynn. I got it with a rubber backing from Howard Sheckter at The perfect edge.

Nope..never have. But I don't suppose it matters so long as you are getting the result from it that you are happy with.
How hard is the stone stingray? There are other thuris out there that are not comparable to the soft upper devonian aged stones we all know. Those stones won't slurry.Quote:

Slurry with a coti means the thuri slurries or the coticule slurries on the thuri? If the thuri doesn't slurry with a diamond plate it will not slurry with a coti I suppose. So it might be the coti that slurries.
Does the thuri get the typical little white scratches on the surface when you hone on it ot touch the surface with a hard subject?
Didn't notice but the slurry was yellow so I have to assume that the coti is the one giving up it's particles... I didn't hone with it naturally but one of the posters said, "I don't suppose it matters so long as you are getting the result from it that you are happy with" which is true...Quote:

Yes but the more you rub the more material comes off. Eventually you will get a pile which will make thick slurry. It may just take longer. The only reason otherwise is if the material from the hone is coming off in very coarse pieces which would be a function of how coarse the lapping plate is and the integrity of your hone.
No worries, just use a soft thuringian rubbing stone.
