You hang it from the back of your truck hitch.

.......it's an old sharpener, hold the handle & run the blade between the balls, it's supposed to touchup up blades, not sure how good it ever was. I would never run my razor through it.

You run the razor through the marbles. Similar to modern knife sharpeners that use various stones but work by the same principle. I don't know how useful it is for a razor though.

Okay after trying to figure this thing out I think I have it down. I started out with a dull razor that would not cut hair off my arm . but after about 15-20 minutes of running the razor through the marbles it will now cut hair clean off my arm. sound crazy but I really think this thing works. I am a believer now.

It requires an abrasive mixture between the balls, so I find it hard to believe it worked for you.

I doubt grit was required. In LW books, ISBN 0-89538-035-8 page 127 three colors are shown, dark blue, green and dark gray. I suspect these were for razor blades. There were all kinds of glass sharpeners for blades that never specified grit. I own some that are clear marbles. Too bad the only marking is Pat. Pend.
