I can't see that the razor is smiling at all but it looks like you'r not far away from honing into a frowning edge.

There is some weirdness going on at the spine. It's odd to say the least that there appears to be 2 high spots both near the centre. Possibly someone's honed it with finger pressure on the spine causing the illusion.
If you have some verniers or similar measure the width of the spine at different spots.
It's ok for the spine to taper towards the tang just that it is progressive.

If the edge or body does not also have some warp or cant to it an even spine will give an even edge bevel.

This looks like a challenging hone job. As I implied before following the current spine geometry could set a frowning edge as it appears both sides are receiving most wear at the centre or close to it.

    Hi Jimmy,

Can you please expand on this? I would think you would hone on the same side until the water goes up evenly. I'm very new to this and want to learn.

    Thanks!

Slowly but surely I'm figuring this out.

Have one razor had a frown so lapped until edge was even on the dmt This gave a bevel but was uneven on same and other side. Still edge was even had lbevel and was sharp so hone all the way through and is one of my sharpest razors and shaves beautifully wonky levels and all.

I would rather have an uneven bevel than a dull razor. I don't care that much about spine wear either as the razor has to shave first.
