Thread: It's not just the bevel

That you have to inspect. Sometimes there's a little roughness very near the bevel that can give you fits. I found two teeny corrosion pit remnants _JUST_ onto the toe of my Trident. That is, not in the bevel-but only very very close.

This is what i was feeling and why I thought i had a "bitey" edge.

Backstory: Trident was first favorite shaver with a good edge but no better than my Barber's Pet or Korn or Piedmont. I just liked the heft of the blade better really. It was the heaviest one with a rounded toe.

I was shaving with all those blades off the 8k, no paste.

Then i got some more razors, watched 37 honing videos (i had seen a few before), and got wiser. Put wiser into practice and used coticule properly to finish plus some CrOx paste. NEW FAVORITE RAZOR! (M&G)

SO then i freshened up the rest with paste. Trident felt wrong. I took the Trident back to 8k then coti, then paste. Still wasn't right...very sharp, but not quite comfy.

I looked at it many times with magnification, lighted and everything-but I was just looking at the bevel and edge. Now I know better! Look at the whole "scene".

I found the culprits i'm sure. Will fix them next time i hone. Plus i found that the blade was touching the spacer at about that point. Two things to fix.
