    Thumbs up Haida Gwaii test

My first HAIDA GWAII SESSION WENT WELL.

After lapping the hard stone to my satisfaction, I read Shaun's [rezdog] thoughts on how to proceed with the finish after the 8k stone. I raised slurry the first time with a DMT 325 credit card, wasn't satisfied with the slurry. Made a very nice slurry using a Nakayama Maruichi Asagi Tomonagura stone. Very nice slurry.

Had 5 razors coming off the 8k so I was ready to finish. I am finding that I like the feel of the blade going across the stone. The best description is that the stone has "DRAW" . A very nice light resistance feeling of the blade slightly dragging across the stone. It feels like it is doing some work. After 10 strokes, I diluted and did 10 more. Then 5-6 with plain running faucet water. 40 Linen and 60 Kanayama 90000 and then shaved Two blades went back to the Haida Gwaii for a second run same drill. Stropped and bingo. Very nice 5 test shaves.

I intend to test the finished blades on a Thuringian soon to see if it can improve the already satisfactory shaves I get from the 5 razors.

Razors were, Horstadtor 6/8, J Breidhour 3 Crosses7/8, Henkels Platinum Carbon 6/8, Simmons KEEN KUTTER 5/8 w/worked spine, Peter J Michels TRUE-EDGE 5/8 w/Bowtie Bolsters. All very nice blades. I think I did a true, albeit very short test but results were again, very good.

Don't be afraid to try one of Shaun's stones. Good luck.......................
