Interesting! Where does that sandstone fit into your progression? What do you use it for?

It looks like a lot the "Pyrénées" stone, it would be a beginner, but it's not really a fast one.
Modest block of Yaginoshima Asagi sitting discreetly below a swarf pelted piece of koma and last weeks classifieds acquisition. A Colonial razor scaled in bone proudly bearing the deep inscription "None Better". None better...

Used this little coticule with clear water to finish this Hargreaves, Smith & Co. Also used the paddle strop between hones in the progression and again after the coti. I like to use this hone hand held, seated with the back of my hand resting on my knee. This little hone gives a great finish, looking forward to the shave tomorrow.

Good looking edge on the Hargreave's. The stone is a beauty too. I call this a striped thuringian however quarry location is unknown. It behaves like the French or German type natural stone. When paired with a light green thuri slurry stone from Peter (hatzicho), it produces a very fine edge. One of my finest natural finishers.
Touched up a personal razor the "Vasili Thalis" Black Diamond. A different grind and steel compared to a Grah Plumacher Black Diamond by a long shot. Enjoy and have a great week!

My new razor Magnum Bonum W&B
Started seting the bevel on 1K and finished it on White cratan. Than went to a Kitta with nagura progresion, finished on water. This is my second razor that i managed to hone by my self and it went great.
Cant wait to shave tomorow
First 3 up for Monday a good start to the week.

I just shaved with an Unexcelled Improved Eagle (Solingen) that I finished on the burnished Translucent Arkansas we discussed in another thread:

Hundreds of circles, Japanese-style back and forths, and x-strokes on thinned mineral oil gave me one of the most effortless, smooth shaves I've ever had. I don't know that the buffing/burnishing made it any better than it would have been otherwise, as I don't have enough experience on either to say, but it was a damn fine shave either way!

Honestly, I've never gotten edges and shaves this good before getting seriously into the naturals of late. Now I might actually have something to contribute occasionally to this thread.
No, you really can't beat the translucent. You definitely have an highly effective technique down.
What are "Japanese-style back and forths"?
