I do think finishing on the Vermio with glycerine created a “soft” yet keen edge more so than I can achieve on the Oozuko.

The Vermio definitely is a finisher and I get nice edges after using the coticule as a pre-finisher. I can shave with a coticule edge, but the Vermio takes it to another level of keenness without making it harsh.

Bottom line - I really like the Vermio. So much so that I haven’t even though about buying another finisher.

Yeah, I just checked them out. He does beautiful work on vintage razors. And his description of a Vermio edge along with yours has me very intrigued. At only $69, too bad they're currently sold out, especially as he says that it "finishes finer than a Thuringian hone in our experience," and is hundreds cheaper than a true vintage Escher. I may have to get one of these.:hmmm:

I think a search of SRP will turn up a few posts about Vermio hones. For the price, they do seem to be a very good finishing hone.

FYI - My usual progression when setting a new bevel is Sharpton 1k -> Norton 4K/8k -> coticule -> Vermio.

SHD, I'm sending a pm shortly. The vermio is definitely a keen edge and fun to work with. Very interesting feel on the stone

I decided to go with an Escher finish on my barber's notch. The edge of this thing is an absolute beaut. Stropped 'er up and onto the shave. I've done about a dozen edges off this stone, but this blade took a finish like it was made for it.

The square point morley is going to have to wait. Wanted to used the other thuri I have, but I've been having some rougher edges off it. Seems like a tall bit of grit in a couple spots. I wanted to see how the back side looked without the skin, as there is some neat patterning on the current honing side. The seller mentioned that the guy he purchased it from said he prefers his stones in this non-square shape...

Anyone use an Anchor hone?Yes,the magnet sticks to it.From what I remember it made a good shaving edge.With it is a J.Weiss with ivory.
