Good stuff. Wonder what was in that strop dressing?
Interesting.
I think it's a well known thing. Useful too. Just wait until someone sees this who's against the HHT. I'm getting my popcorn ready.
I've gotta get me a Torrey strop !
Is that the HHT? I thought he was stitching a frilly edge onto the blade.
The real question is which level of the HHT are Torrey talking about? I mean, we all know if it is a HHT less than 3.65 a strop probably won't fix that. And what if you have a non-uniform HHT distribution along the edge? How does a strop handle that?
I think this is ad is factually incorrect in many ways, and deliberately misleading in others.
I love old ads like this, thanks for sharing!
The ad did say just cause it cut a hair doesn't make it shave right, got to use the strop. Tc
My most comfortable shaves have been from a razor that wouldn't cut a hair. A HHT -3.68. Lol. It's called a butter knife. Face had hair afterwards but OOOOWEEEE it was a burn free shave.
Exactly - you finish on a thuri or a Jnat ot black ark or a coti with slurry and pow a great HHT , but the shave is bitty and the edge is crisp .
When finishing more than 40 50 strokes on plain watter - oups HHT - 0 , all day long , but the edge is buttery smooth . So tell me more about HHT
Not a big issue, use it, if it works for you… just be aware of its limitations. I use arm hair test when honing and I am too lazy to pick up a loupe.
Test the toe, middle and heel. Once it grabs a hair do another set then look at it with a loupe, if good move up.
