No I am not using it for setting bevels. I used it on the first razor with the 1000 grit King as there was some very small micro chips near the toe. I used almost no pressure on the 1000 grit stone & no pressure on the other stones. I think the biggest benefit was when I used the taped razor on my Coti. The edge just sprang to life. I first used Smiths honing fluid then running water on the Coti. I was taught that finishing on the Coti with running water kept the garnets from making micro scratches on the edge.
I think I will next use it on a new purchase very dull & rusted Torry & see how well the Cellophane tape holds up under much heavier pressure. I stress using 3-M Scotch tape as I believe it is made better than the dollar store stuff. I am not saying this is the best end all other method but an experiment I hope works. I wonder if 3M makes colored cellophane tape ?It's all good!
