    Default Is Colonel Conk hone any good?

    Is the conk hone good or do I need to get a Norton?

    The Col. Conk hone is too coarse for a shave. Get the Norton Combo.

    I've heard that the Col. Conk hone is around 6K, which is somewhere between "rips your face off" and "shaves comfortably." You may be able to get an OK shave from it, but you'll be much happier if you finish on something finer. This could be a fine barber hone, a pasted strop, the 8K side of the Norton, or a Belgian coticule.

    If you decide to buy a razor from me or Ivo, you'll probably be on the market for a coticule pretty soon...
