Well I just got back from @10Pups
Jerry was gracious enough to offer up a honing lesson. I had a fantastic day. Watching videos are nice to learn the basics. They however do not answer questions, or show you what you may be incorrectly.
I brought a couple of my razors. We picked my A J Jordan to work on. I had honed it. Upon inspecting it Jerry pointed out that it needed toe and heal work.
I used his Norton 4/8k just to bring these two areas in. Jerry showed me 2 very easy stoke modifications to my stroke.
I was able to to get these two areas dialed in. After finishing on the 8k. We moved on to a Naniwa 12k. At this point I had a very nice edge, the entire length.
Jerry then broke out his Zulu stone. He had me make a slight slurry. Then went on to finish up the blade. This is by far the best looking edge I have to date. When I got home, i gave it 100 laps on my strop. I am now ready to give it a go tonight.
Jerry was also very gracious enough to give me a soap sample. I think he said the product name is Arko. He guarantees me this soap is the Bomb. So needless to say that will be my soap of the evening.
