    Default new razor will not hone

    ok so i tried on 2 new razors taking it to a 1k chosara for 3 hours total and i can't get it to set a bevel i tried all the techniques out there. light pressure and from pressure. what else is there to do

    Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

    Your opening post is a bit too general to give you any specific advice.

    But,,,

    I suggest that you step away from the hones for a short while; then take some photos of your razors,,, list your hones for us & tell us about your "method/technique" that you have been using. This allows us a better understanding of your situation.

    Add more information to your "profile" about where you are; that way someone close to you may be able to give you some hands on training in the future.

    You may have "tried all the techniques out there" but its apparent you need some help understanding them.

    Okay,,, look at the photo below, the red arrow area shows the area we never go with the stone, that's the razor's shoulder/stabilizer area. You have been honing on it.

    The blue line is the area that touches the stone.

    Regardless of what method you use, you must stop honing the area shown by the red arrow.
