Mark the bevel and hone for 5-10 strokes and check whether the marks are gone from the full length of the bevel on either side. If so: do your pyramids, if not continue on the 6000 or even lower grit hone till the bevel will pass the bevel marking test.
That's how I do it. You can use a mike and diagnose the problem but eventually you'll have to do the above to get the razor sorted.

If I understand your description of the problem correctly, you're saying the stone hones the blade differently along various parts of the edge. If that's true, you've got a heat treat problem or a warping problem (which is also a heat treat problem). You can compensate somewhat for a warping problem. You can't compensate for a heat treat problem.

yes! the final part of the blade that i see under a microscope as BLACK seems to be that not have the same thickness ....
