Thread: SHARP ?...............

There must have been a little "glitch" in this board the past week.......I had to re-regester !

OK, If we're talking about hones, maybe you guys can chime in.

Watched Lynns DVD several times.......I've got two razors (YES, I'm new at this)......A (probably 90 year-old) Case, which belonged to my girlfriend's Grandpa.....and a spanking brand new T-I.

I saw an avatar which showed the "hair-test", and that inspired me........I've been honeing ever since......

I know the Case is going to take a lot of work, but the new T-I said it was "ready to shave" right from the factory.......(which it wasn't).

I did the "Lynn's pyramid" on the T-I, and it still won't "cut" the hanging hair test.

Am I expecting too much ?........I tried a first shave with both razors, and was dissapointed.

How do I get these beautiful instruments SHARP ?

Send one to a honemeister to understand what "shaving sharp" is and practice practice practice with the other blade.

What do you have in the way of hones?

I've got a Norton 4000 & 8000 (seperate.... not the "combo"), a yellow Belgian coticule, and a new Dovo premium strop (leather & linen).

Honing is a craft that takes just a tad of practice.

Thanks for the moral support Alan !........I have patience, I have the equipment, I have two razors so far, (but I'm SURE that"that" value will increase.......) .........all I need now is "sharpening talent" !

I mentioned that I gave it a try a few days ago, and they DID shave......(somewhat)...........but I know that it can be MUCH better !
