The main problem for the progressive group has always been a lack of clarity, neither of you have done anything more than describe how easy it is, but still have failed to provide even a modicum of guidance (although using a DE blade is a great idea), which is fine in this thread. Having been one of the few people to ever attempt to walk someone through honing step by step progressively through this site I have a particular appreciation for the pyramid, but I look forward to both of you spelling the process out in a single post (or why not an entire thread with pictures). I await it anxiously.
AFDavis, I have to strongly disagree with you here. Both JoshEarl and I have posted our complete methods several times and newbies were able to get their razors shave ready with just the information that we provided. Much of this information was deleted in the crash but the progressive camp has absolutely taken newbies from not being able to get a razor shave ready to getting a great shaving edge in one thread. Here is just one post-"forum crash" example of a "walkthrough": http://straightrazorpalace.com/showthread.php?t=16920
Furthermore the guide that I posted at B&B is pretty much as complete as you need. At the end of the post I clearly stated that once a quality bevel is set then it is easy to polish to a shave ready edge using different stones. I said that one could just stay on the Norton 8K for 10 to 20 passes or do 100 on both the blue and yellow. If you did the rest of the work right then your razor will shave great. If you want more guides then you are going to get it in the near future. I will be making a comprehensive honing video at the end of march which will cover what I consider to be the fundamentals of honing. Hopefully the video format will make it even easier to learn with. Bart also is finishing up a complete guide on using the belgian stones which is turning out great.
I think, if the pyramid group had a lawyer, he would say "put up or shut-up". Sadly, it doesn't.
And you can't act like little babies about it either, you have to act like men.
But it would be great if you put half as much effort into creating a thread about your method as you do criticizing the ones that have already been proven
I really don't think that the insults are necessary AFDavis.
