Try this link.
For cleaning strops I like to use a bit of Goop or Gojo (non-pumice please) hand cleaner and paper towels and sometimes an improvised squeegee. It doesn't take very much.
How did you get so much metal on your strop in under a year?
I did'nt say it was black its not been used alot but i just wanted to no when is the time to repaste how would i no i persume when paste starts to get partly blackend by metal bits but i am not sure and i don't want to waste paste if you see what i meen.
Just because it has started to turn black or gray does not mean it needs to be completely removed. What I have done is to use some GOOP, 1-2 drops at most, and smear it around until the black/grey is gone then let it dry for a day. The abrasiveness returns.
Be sure to read the sticky in this forum that shows how to properly paste a paddle strop. Most people use far to much paste.
WHEN YOU SAY GOOP DO YOU MEAN STROP DRESSING AS IN NEATS FOOT OIL OR JUST A SPL;ASH OF WATER THANXS GARY.
Goop:
Goop Multi-Purpose Hand Cleaner
Good stuff it takes grease and oil stains out of laundry too.
THANXS FOR THAT I HAVE TRYED WATER AND IT SEEMED TO THIN THE PASTE OUT TO MUCH I SHOULD IMAGINE ITS OK TO ADD A DOT OF WATER WHEN APPLYING A FREASH PASTE TO GET THE PASTE RUBED IN AND AROUND I NO LYNN DOES IN HIS DVD OR WOULD YOU RECOMEND FOOT OIL AGAIN THANX GARY
A dot of water is ok. What we try to do here is to help new guys and, generally speaking , water and leather do not mix. I do not want to give the impression that it is ok to scrub clean a strop with water and soap!:)
