The way it was done to my Norton set was by lapping the stone first and only after that has completed, then using the lapping plate to put a bevel on the edge of the stone. Of course, it's not "rounded" but more importantly, it's not a squared edge either.
gssixgun lapped my Norton set as a demonstration at the NC meetup in June that way.
On the lapping stone, just rub the edges of the Norton at about a 45 degree angle then smooth it to round.....I do this with both stones in my hands and get a nice rounded edge... Keep in mind you just have to take off the very edge, very very little of the actual stone surface

That's what I do too; use a progressive arc motion from side to side when rubbing the stone's edge back and forth on the lapping stone. Nice radius round edges rather than a camfered/beveled edge.
So simple to do yet I'm finding, fairly complex to explain!
