Thanked: 0How does one round the edges on a Norton 4K/8K?
I have a new Norton 4K/8K and lapping plate. I'd like to round the edges on the stone before lapping. What is the best way to do this? Thanks.

The way it was done to my Norton set was by lapping the stone first and only after that has completed, then using the lapping plate to put a bevel on the edge of the stone. Of course, it's not "rounded" but more importantly, it's not a squared edge either.
gssixgun lapped my Norton set as a demonstration at the NC meetup in June that way.

Thanked: 13246On the lapping stone, just rub the edges of the Norton at about a 45 degree angle then smooth it to round.....I do this with both stones in my hands and get a nice rounded edge... Keep in mind you just have to take off the very edge, very very little of the actual stone surface
HA!!!!! BT beat me to the post hehehe
