    Default Lap My Barber hone?

Hey all. On the advice of a member, and due to a pretty good price on eBay, I've got me a John Primble barber hone. It's in pretty good shape, but on the back of the stone, where I intend to use it, there are a few very small pits. The largest is about 1.1mm by 1mm, and it is not very deep at all. It is barely perceptible to the touch. I was wondering, is it ok to use as is or should I lap the stone?

If I should lap it, would 1000 grit be high enough to smooth it, or should I go higher, say 1200?

    Thanks!
    Jim
