I do mine with a DMT D8C to start and finish them with D8F usually, sometimes, if I'm in the mood, I'll go to a D8E.
Wet/Dry Sandpaper does a great job too! Use it on a piece of tile or glass...Rich
The Norton flattening stone will be okay if it is flat. If you have a straight edge to check your stones after you lap them you will no. As far as slurry, Howard at the Perfect edge has them and maybe Zib in the classifieds ?
Meanwhile if you have a small diamond plate, the kind used for knife sharpening, I use that on hones for which I don't have a slurry stone of the same material as the hone. I don't think it will deposit diamond particles. :shrug:
