Yesterday I had a very successful honing session (well, touch-up really) with my yellow coticule. This is more or less a follow up to JimR's thread, "Touching Up" Guidelines? . My main workhorse DD had been through a couple sessions on my paddle strop and worked great for a while, but it was time for a true touch-up. I was taking a chance because this is my only truly shave ready edge. I busted out the coti, which I know is a bit on the hard side, great for finishing. Taped spine (one layer), water only I did 10 laps. TPT responded immediately, but not quite enough. In the end I did roughly 50 laps and called it quits. I followed up with 10 laps of chrome on the paddle and what an improvement. A BBS very comfortable shave, no irritation whatsoever, so I'm pretty happy with that.

That being said I did have one observation. I was test shaving on my arm hair, and it was shaving really well. Last night (hours after my honing session) I noticed my arm was slightly red in spots with a couple small 3/8'' long cuts (good thing nobody accused me of being a "cutter" ). Did I create some burrs that roughed up my arm? I think I'm glad I used the chrome ox last to smooth out the edge because my face definitely did not suffer as a result.
