Randy suggested to me that I test every 10 or so strokes. When it comes to round trips on the hone more is not necessarily better IME. I like to use the blue/slurry and coticule/water one some razors and I like the gentle edge I get from that combo. I also like the pyramid method with the Nortons or the Shapton pros because it seems to work well for me. I haven't tried the Naniwa series yet. Down the road I probably will fork over the dough and see what all the fuss is about. :)
+1'n with Jimmy, Less is more. I read so posts where guys are doing way too many strokes. Ben, try doing only 10 lapps on your Naniwa as a finisher. it's higher grit than a Coti, but just bearly...:)
Jimmy, You'll like the Naniwa 12k.....Start with that one...Gives great feedback!
