Default Honing the SRP club razor

I got my two club razors in the mail last night (they're beauties!), and couldn't wait to hone them up.

I think a lot of us who just received the club razor are in a similar situation, and we all might learn a bit from the pros (not me!) about getting a new razor shave ready.

    Here's what I did:

    5 strokes Norton 4000, 5 strokes Norton 8000
    3 strokes 4000, 5 strokes 8000
    test
    5 strokes 4000, 5 strokes 8000
    3 strokes 4000, 5 strokes 8000
    test
1 stroke 4000, 3 strokes 8000, 8 very gentle strokes fine barber hone
    test
3 strokes 8000, 8 strokes fine barber hone, 40 passes on .5 micron green pasted strop, clean, 40 strokes on leather strop, test, good to go.

That seemed like a lot of honing to me, for a new razor. Did you guys have a similar experience? Should I have done anything different?

Did you test the razors before you honed them? I wouldn't add salt to my food before tasting it.
