No. There should still be enough deflection in your strop to reach the edge.
this is a little controversial topic Some believe strop will bend enough and edge will touch. Some says 3 will hurt the edge. I believe that it depends who is stropping . if you put enough pressure you will hurt the edge. without pressure you should be ok.

I strop razors that have been honed with 3 layers of tape on a regular basis. For me it is a non issue, when stropping. It is a pain in the rear when it comes to doing a touch up though.
Try it for yourself and see how it works.

I only tape bad hone worn spines, or old & rares I don't want to mess up. I have yet to have a problem on the hanging leather strop from a taped spine.

I keep the razors in a little wooden box with built in dividers.
The box is painted with red and black shellac.
