When one of Max's hit's ebay, it can go for a small fortune. Anyway, Give us some details. How's the bevel on your blade? Does it need to be re set? There's lot's and lot's of variables when it comes to honing. Some blades are harder than others and take longer to get the bevel set, once that's done, and you can shave arm hair, you got half the battle...You have good hones...
Yes, that is a fine razor. Koeller was one of the companies who made the Sta Sharp brand for Craftsman (Sears) for some of the production and they are a high quality razor. I have a gun metal and some other Koellers and they are all good. If you bring the Dovo from ebay home you might want to send it out and get it honed professionally to give you a gauge with which to compare your own efforts on other razors.Quote:

I didn't find honing to be difficult and have honed my own razors from day one. In my opinion, the real issue for most is patience. If you try to rush the process you will end up putting excessive pressure on the razor. Take your time, let the weight of the razor to all the work.
