Martin has 3/8k combo
what does 70.eur equal out to in dollars,
ouch once i calculated the difference stefan, i have come to the conclusion, i need to find a us dist. cost and shipp would break me on that one
you might as well get 3 and 8k from SRD and call it a day.
the place mainaman suggested has a 3k/8k combo stone, but not a 5k/8k, so i will continue looking
Given the current lack of Naniwa combo's, I don't forsee any coming into existence in the near future; I'm pretty sure there is only the 3/8 combo. If they do make one, I would think you'd save maybe $10 off the cost of getting two individual hones (I think that's about what you save with the 3/8 vs a 3 and an 8).
Personally, I prefer having separate ones because I can put the hones down on their bases and not worry about damaging anything. For hones like Nortons, single grit hones without bases are nice, because then you can use both sides without lapping or hone on the edge, but the only advantages to combo hones that I can think of is saving some space and saving a couple bucks.
well, i will have to go with a 5k and a 8k, not sure if i want to invest in the 1k yet, kinda wish i could find a deal on them like amazon is offering for the nortons, but i started to think more on the naniwas simply because i wont grow out of them as quick as i would the nortons, from listening to yourself and others talk
If you don't already have a 1k and want to set bevels, I would suggest ordering it with your other hones just to save on shipping.
Also, I'm not sure you'd grow out of Nortons, I just prefer the Naniwas because I like the feedback they give, no soaking required, I like the way the cut, etc etc - all of which is personal preference.
