Those are for DE blades.
You drop your dull DE blade in it and give it someQuote:

Yep, Lillicraps was the king of the glass DE honers back then.
Of course, during the Depression a lot of people would not want to spend money on such a thing, so they would accomplish the same thing simply by stropping their blades in a drinking glass!
