Glass hone stropper?
Hello gents!
Can you tell me how and why to use a such thing? I apologize for my ignorance and thank you in advance for your time.

Those are for DE blades.

You drop your dull DE blade in it and give it some
left to right honing motions. You can push and flex
the blade a bit to change the angle of the bevel.
Not too valuable on modern Teflon coated DE blades.
Made sense with the older Blue Blades that might rust
and were expensive. Glass with a fine abrasive on it
like old style tooth paste or chalk makes a hone.
Glass and frosted glass will also realign the edge of a
blade the way a knife steel might.
Might be fun to try one but as sharp as Feather and
other better DE blades are I would only look at it
as a novelty.

Thanked: 3795Of course, during the Depression a lot of people would not want to spend money on such a thing, so they would accomplish the same thing simply by stropping their blades in a drinking glass!
