If you mean generating slurry on your coti by rubbing it on a DMT plate, yes I've done that and it works very well. You get lots of slurry. Of course the coti slurry stone works very well too.

No I have a bottle of .25 spray and I just thought I would see what happened with a spritz on when finishing.
After reading the OP, I don't think you can improve a 12k edge with any Coticule. I have many...If it's honed properly that is..I'd venture and say, that if your edge is better or smoother after a 12k to a Coti, then it wasn't honed right to begin with.
Edges off a C12k or a Nani 12k are great, They're smooth...
One way I go backwards that actually works is from Diamond paste, say .50 or even .25 to Crox. For me, the edge off diamond paste is just a tad keen. The crox kind of mellows it out...
Coticules are non porous, That should work...? I never tried it, but as long as the spray stays on there...I'm not sure what would happen when the garnet's get released and mix with the diamond spray...
Apparantly, it's bad to do that...So, don't do that..
What results did you get....?
FWIW, Diamonds rate a 10 on the hardness scale...Garnet's rate 7-7.5
Still pretty hard stuff....
Well, The Nani is synthetic, and the C12k is a natural...Your partial to Naturals...Nothing wrong with that....The C12k is a great stone, probably one of the most overlooked stones in eveyone's collection...It's just slow, but gives great edges...Especially with a slurry, since they are naturals, there are variances from stone to stone....Some are better finishers than others....
What's going to happen is as the blade rides over the spray and the hone the much harder diamond will abrade the coticule and cause more garnet to be released along with the rock it's embedded in and the diamond will throw off the honing ability of the garnet which will be pulverized to dust by the diamond.
I got a very keen edge with no scratches. It had a velvety look under a Veho 400 but was shiny to the naked eye.I used a les Latneuse on the faster side.
