The hybrid side is the opposite of the yellow side. It would be bbw on a normal Coti.
So is the "hybrid side" a generic term for the side opposide the coticule, or does it imply that it is a mixture of BBW and coticule (which is what that photo looks like to me). Or is it something else?
I cannot remember who posted it, or in which thread, but there are some photos of the coticule veins running more or less vertically through the strata, and you can see the different colors, besides the blue, of the strata that the yellow coticule, in that particular vein, run through. So it isn't just yellow next to bbw 100% of the time and .... waste not want not. :)
Gary I have lapped mine several times for quite a while at each sitting.I hate to rough it up. It gets smooth as glass and I can see reflections off of it in the light.I would like to use a lubricant maybe but I am afraid it will seep in through the sides and cause harm over time.
my hone was real sticky for some reason now its no wear near like that. may be just using slurry stone will help. should be ok with lubricant these stones arn't porus . just keep working it with an old razor get some slurry and just do loads of laps back and forth try and bed it in a little . is it grabbing in certain spots thats how mine was real grabby and jumpy.
Thanks Gary. My stone is smooth as glass. I can hold it up to my monitor and read the screen off of it. I think I'll try some lather and see how that goes. Thank you.
mine is like marbel i no what you mean.
may be use yellow side and finish on hybrid with some lather,
Yes I think I will. Now to decide on what type. The "yellow" side is very fast with with slurry or water alone and is also an excellent finisher.Just to stay in tune with the OP I used to come off of a Naniwa 1000 straight to a coti but I was never quite happy so I recently purchased the Naniwa 3/8 ss combo and it made it much easier for me to obtain nice edges and quicker too. I am highly considering getting the 12k but continuing to use a coti as the final finisher.
