Default Is this a good deal

Take a look at this, it looks like a good deal to me what do you think. I have just paid £10 for some .25 micron diamond compound. I do not know how much compound is in each syringe.
I got my norton from these guys and the service is very good but little expensive.

With those and a paddle strop (or 2!) you should be able to keep your razors humming along well. There's plenty of paste in a tube for many years to come.

The 0.25µ is almost overkill. It's the dash of nutmeg in your coffee, the paprika on your deviled egg, the parsley garnish beside the filet. You really don'e want to be doing too much on that.

    X,

I don't use a paddle strop, I use a 3" wide peace of balsa that fits into the top of the blue box that is supplied with a norton stone.

I am getting more and more tempted.

What do you want al those pastes for then? Yes it's a good deal, but I'd say just get some 1µ or 0.5µ for the other side of the Balsa.

The price is pretty good and the 0.25 completes the sequence.
Just be sure to wash the blade to remove any of the oil left behind that may irritate your skin.

Looks like a nice rsource for UK buyers. The individually sold pastes seem to be oil based versions of the Amplex componds sold here, just marked with the Norton name instead of Amplex. (Amplex, Norton, St. Gobain...same company)

Not sure the origin of the set though. These are sold here in the USA as well. The Amplex pastes commonly used for straaight razor sharpening are sold as "standard concentration" but there are other concentraions that are less expensive.

The MDF stystem is pretty effective and I have been fooling with that too. It is a little less forgiving that the leather surfaces but works well.

    All,

I bought this kit and for the money it is a great deal. I have just refeshed a couple of razors with it and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
