Honing after shaving

I realized a few days ago that I never touch up a razor straight after shaving with it. I let it sit overnight and do it the next day. I think I got this idea in my head back when I was a newbie and read that stuff about not stropping a razor after shaving. I have long since ignored that advice on stropping but i guess something in my subconscious has stopped me honing right after the shave. Do you guys do it, is there any real reason not to?

I strop after shave, but I do not see why there is any need to hone after shaving with a perfectly shave ready razor.

+1, unless I am in the process of dialing the razor in and after a shave I find it needs more attention. When it is 'there' I just strop following the shave and don't hone that razor again until it begins to fall off in keenness.

+2- Unless the razor is pulling some, I do not hone after shaving as a matter of course. But, since I already usually have a lathered brush at hand after shaving, if the razor does need a touch up I have done it after shaving.

After shaving i usually do about 10 laps on the leather before putting the razor away. I don't hone unless I feel there was something wrong during the shave.

To answer your question, no, there is no reason why you wouldn't hone a razor after a shave if it needs it. I usually will put my "dull/pulling" razors in a "to be honed" cup that has about an inch of rice in it and then hone up several razors at one time. I typically shave after honing, then shave with a freshly honed razor...but there is no need to wait until the stars align with a certain planet.

Yes there is a good reason that I never hone after shaving, it basically comes down to, I pretty much do nothing at work now, but I think they actually might draw the line at me sitting at my desk honing...
