Hmmmm...they sometimes take a few more strokes than normal, and I tend towards a natural finisher for them. They seem to like that.
Mine hones up nicely, and I had one not too long come through, and it was a dream.
Sorry, I'm not helping am I? Do you have a coti? Try it straight through from the 4k, dilute to water, and then finish on water.
Thx maxi, tried a new Jnat today and it just did not happen for me with the wacker.
Will try the coti in the mornmJnat worked to perfection with some others.
Maybe something with the steel wacker uses.
Wacker and Revisor tend to be rather chippy and can get harsh....
These are on my "head straight to the full set of Naniwa SS's" list of razors... Once you get them dialed in though you will find they are worth the trouble...
Good info, will go back to the Coti, other blades love the jnat (nakayama KIIta)The wacker do's not I suppose.Thx
Cool. Now try 10 strokes on you Kiita :)
On water only? am afraid to,I worked hard on this edge:(
Yeah water only & very light no pressure strokes but if you are satisfied with the edge & can not possibly see it improving in any way leave it alone.
You did work hard & now you know where the problem lay you can repeat the results.
Thank you,I learned alot,bummer is,I have 11 wackers:( only 4 I use tho:)
And you can hone 'em all now ;)
+1 on Glen's observation that they can be a challenge, respond to Nanis well (and cotis and asagi). Its one of very very few razors that require some fussing with to get right that I'll put up with. The results have been very satisfying.
Like the old Cheech and Chong line: I smoked a piece of concrete once. It took me 3 hrs to get it lit, but once you do - you're flying!
The heavy grind Wackers have been the most enduring favorites in the rotation.
