Different size hones
Guy's
I have two different size hones as I couln't get a 4/8k combination here so I have a question:
My 4k is narrow so I hone with a X pattern but my 8k is wide enought to hone with the heel slightly forward.
Is this ok or should I do a x pattern on the 8k to remain consistant
All help appreciated

I think what your doing is fine because as you hone with the heel leading you are in effect doing an X pattern or at least having the same result.

I'll second that. Just make sure that the angle is about 30 degrees.

Thanked: 1587Dazza,
I know this is not directly related to your post, but I managed to get hold of a Norton 4/8k combo from a place in South Australia that makes woodworking tools - I can PM you with the details of you'd like.
