Honing at SRD

I have a question about the honing at SRD. Do they use tape when they hone either new razors or old razors?

To the best of my knowledge Lynn normally does not use tape. He will probably be along shortly to answer your question directly.

I bet you could ask them to if you wanted to preserve the spine of your razor. Lots of guys like their blades to show no honewear along the spine.

I heard that Lynn doesn't use tape normally when honing unless to protect a damascus pattern or when he needs to remove a lot of steel for a repair. The amount of metal removed from the razor in a normal honing is minimal.
