Thanked: 22044th Minnesota new guy this week!
I usually post in the Get Togethers forum when a new guy comes over to my home but I think the Honing forum is more appropriate since almost all of the new guys have a razor that needs to be honed. So here goes......
This evening a new SRP guy, Ehryk, stopped over to show me his new "kit".
He brought along his Boker razor, a very nice razor, which he purchased from an SRP member, and I touched it up on an Apart barber hone, a Thuringen and a chrome ox paddle strop. It seemed to have been used a bit improperly while stropping.
Eric unfortunately was caught in the Ebay web of deceit and got stuck with a bunch of low grade razors, strop, DE & replaceable blade wonders. Fortunately for me Rod Bell ( RodB)
also joined in again and helped answer a lot of questions. We did replace the linen component with a much better cotton webbing and told him how to work with his strop. He also left with a chrome ox paddle strop.
We covered proper stropping technique, shaving technique and beard prep. Actually both Rod and me performed a shaving demo for him!
Eric is in the web dev work world and I may have to call upon him in the future for some local help with the Drupal CMS.
It has been a busy but fun week with 4 new guys coming over. I always enjoy the company.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 995Now I wonder if Randy isn't working some secret cloning program.
I blame him for getting me into this.“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

Thanked: 995Yes, all is well. I've gotten to see Glen honing almost as many times as I have watched you. He still won't get up and walk around the room buttering a stone with a razor like you do though... LOL
