That is what I like about the stone, It leaves a buttery smooth feel to the edge, virtually no chipping. It feels like a very hard stone but cuts rapidly more like a soft stone.
If you ever get the chance to try one out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The price seems about the same as a 30k GS & users are reporting a far easier time getting smooth edges with it (the 20k). The Gokumyo is also far cheaper than a Maruichi branded (to say nothing of Maruka) Nakayama razor hone & is of proven fineness. Not saying it would replace a razor-quality Jnat, but I imagine it'd be fun to try.
God knows I don't need any other hone, but I've been reading good things about this stone. Can anybody tell me how does its smoothness and sharpness compare with the smoothness and sharpness from a yellow green Escher? Thanks in advance. Double O
