I saw this online today and i have to say it is pretty impressive. For anyone with a wood stove or fireplace this would be really nice to have.

I have done some splitting before and while i enjoy physical labor the new level of efficiency that this provides is just hard to ignore.
Now watch the prices on those vintage nortons that the axe-men pay big bucks for drop do a dollar a dozen ;)

The guy s splitting straight grain birch, my wife could do that with a hatchet.
I used to heat my house with wood, 5 cords of bone dry almond and madrone a year.
That tool would be worthless for hardwoods,JMO

I think he might be onto something with the single bevel but I don't like how it rotates in the hand on contact. Ergonomics seem wrong that way.
I always used malls and wedeges and a BF sledge, needed at least 4 malls to get the ones that get stuck out of the timber:)

Its the same concept of slightly tilting the ax at the point of impact. This ax is just weighted on one side and does it for you.

The things I see on the web, splitting wood with a rock as the base for your block of wood you are splitting & barefoot to top it off.
We use oak around here, that fancy axe wouldn't work here at all...maul, sometimes with wedges or hydraulics is what we use. We also wear boots when working in the field...
