Hey Guys,

I bought my own Christmas present a bit early. It's the Harbor Freight Survival Knife, 8" blade, survival kit in the handle. I've been eyeing it for 6 months & finally bout it today when the price dropped from $9.99 to $7.99. (Gotta have the coupon code)

It has pretty good reviews, don't know why.

Main complaint was no tang. I thought the handle was one piece, but found out it was screwed on.

The survival kit is a gimmick really, junk, but the compass actually works O.K.

It came with a horrible V-Cut bevel,,, took 1 hour, a vintage Norton and a DMT 1200 to change that V bevel to a convex bevel that cuts arm hair, around 1K, maybe.

I unscrewed the handle from the blade & used 3M 5200 as a thread lock & reattached.

I won't be tossing out the RAT 7 or the Ka-Bar,,, not quite sure what I will use it for.

Thanks for looking,,,
