They actually aren't my opinions. I heard as much from Mike Stewart, owner and chief designer of Bark River Knife and Tool. I don't have much experience with S30V, but I certainly trust his knowledge of steel.

I carry around a Kershaw 1460 Splinter I absolutely adored ever since I received it.
At home but not for carrying around: Rockstead Higo. Heck, I almost don't dare using that one ...
I've been carrying a Leatherman Skeletool the last 6 months or so. I love it! I wasn't carrying anything prior to that, and I don't know how I got through the day!
The big pliers can actually do some work, the screwdriver part functions well (as does the bottle opener:beer2:), the only downside is that the basic skeletool blade dulls pretty quick. I may upgrade to the CX for the sake of the higher grade blade alone.
I had a Kershaw Nakamura for awhile, beautiful knife, but I always reached for the skeletool, so I gave up on the Nakamura...
I carry a home-made knife in the traditional style from the part of Norway I am from, it has got a laminated carbon steel blade with a hard center laminated between soft and flexible steel sides.
My grandfather carried and made similar one for his entire life.
The problem is that it doesn't go too well with my uniform, so I am getting one of the tiny small bokers for that use.
I carry 2 knives A spyderco Kopa Apple Coral pocket knife a little CRKT K.I.S.S. Both of which my husband bought me. I normally carry them in my scrub pants.

I usually am carrying more than one knife. But the knife that I would consider my EDC knife is a Entrek USA, JAG model. Carried in a inside the waistband sheath.
