Default Can anyone recommend a belt sheath for a K55K?

So I'm getting a Mercator K55K Cat Knife because my current workhorse knife is seeing the end of it's life. Unfortunately it doesn't have a clip like I like my knives to have, but I was playing around with a friend's and its exactly what I need (minus the belt clip and thumb stud) so I'll make those compromises.

Now most of the time I'm fine with having it in a pocket, but I would like to get a sheath for it. Something low profile, easy to access and with a belt loop. I know a lot of guys here like knives too so I figured there'd be some experts. Any ideas? Oh and price I'd like to keep ~$10, preferably less, though I guess if its real nice I could spend more.

    Thanks!

First I googled 'knife pouch' and then I did a search for the same term on ebay. Scads of them of every description.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I know! That's why I was hoping someone might know a thing or two. Thanks for the help though Jimmy.

    A fine choice sir!

For me though, the lack of OHO would be a killer for EDC - even though it's a great knife to own in any case.

I wonder, what are the things you like about it in particular? I'd be interested to see if I could think of something even more perfect!

Oh but you can OHO... if you hold the blade by the thumb nail indent and give it an upward jerk, as it pops open release and catch the scales!

But yes that is kind of an issue. Also the clip is an issue- normally I just clip it to my belt or waistband.

Lets see what you come up with. I like simple, STRONG lockback when you want it strong, easy when you want to close it. I liked the K55K cus it feels pretty darn near a fixed blade when open. For EDC's and work knives I like something with more function and less flair, I'm not gonna gut something with a nice MOP scaled beauty, but an all-steel K55k I have no regrets. So price is an issue too. Not dirt cheap, but not expensive to the point I don't use it. Once again, I don't care what a $100 Boker is made for, I'm not gonna use it to its full potential purely cus I have this... collector's guilt... every time I get something nice or shiny and deliberately put wear and tear on it.

So, in summary I chose the K55K because:
    • When open, needs to be sturdy
    • Needs to be highly functional
    • Needs to be "cheap" and "replaceable" so I actually use it

I have to say, I do use expensive knives. I EDC a Spyderco Urban, they run to about £100 here ($150).

I'll have a think. I did just recieve a Sanrenmu 710 and a 962. They cheap, strong and both of them use 8cr13mov steel - a chinese steel that spyderco use. Takes a great edge.

The 710 is all steel, pretty thin, strong frame lock and excellent blade. Cost, about $5? I've just ordered a spare.

The 962 is an axis lock, G10 scales. Maybe a bit bulky for EDC, I like thinner knives for EDC. It's a great knife though.

On a slightly higher note, price wise. Have you looked at the Byrd line? Designed by spyderco, made in china, use the same steel as the SRMs. I think something like the meadowlark would be a great EDC knife. I'm not sure how much they are, maybe $20? Or a Persistance/Tenacious - spyderco name at a lower pricepoint.

I'd go for a Kershaw... But those are liner locked...

Spyderco costs a bit more, but it is lockbacked and just SO quality....

I EDC Between Benchmade, Kershaw, Spyderco, Boker and Cold Steel. Nothing else.. Those brands just "fit" me

Oh and the other requirement- needs to look classy, like a knife. Not like some kinda alien technology!

JK those look great just not my style for EDC type stuff
