Default The knife my brother made me

This is a knife my little brother made for me a couple of years ago. (for free, as a result of loosing a bet)

The blade was made by a local blacksmith to my specifications. It is laminated, soft steel on the sides to make it easier to hone and less brittle, swedish file-steel in the middle to make the edge hard. That is the way we make all blades where I come from and they take a scary sharp edge.
    Sheath is made from leather.
Handle (or scales maybe, this being a shave form) is made from ebony and ivory (he had an old piece laying around)
I don't really use it that much, since it is kind of hard to find any non-criminal uses for it

    What do you guys think?

Very cool looking knife. I love the idea of the laminated blade. Looks like the maker knew his stuff. Kind of reminds me of a Finnish pukka knife.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The laminated blades is a really good thing, it is the way they have made the blades at home for a long time. They have a long tradition of knife-making there, even though this particular one is very far from traditional.

That is very cool. I love the design of the handle, as well...seems like that Blacksmith knew what he was doing, alright.

If you don't mind my asking, when you say "where I come from", where is that exactly?

I come from Norway, a small place called Gjerstad in the County of Aust Agder. The Gjerstad coat of arms actually consists of three knifes.

Just living in Miami right now to get some education.
