Default So begins my shaving & restoration hobby!

After lurking here the past few weeks I thought it would be time to put an intro out there from here in Sydney, Australia.

With my father-in-law finding his grandfathers two Joseph Rodgers & Sons razors, which are beautiful pieces to behold, I got an itch to find out more about straight razors.

Hours of entertaining and informative reading on SRP later I found myself visiting Sydney antique stores and bingo picked up two Sheffield razors, one being a Bengall, just begging to be restored to their former glory. They were sad rusting pieces, so I got to work following the restoration instructions from the SRP library.

Behold, before and after photos of my last two weekends of work on a Sheffield razor, originally manufactured by 'Hodges Brothers'. I'm happy with my cosmetic restoration. Next step is of course to use this beauty to begin my instruction on the art of honing...... Time to save up for a wet stone or two. The Bengall will be next!
