Hi Y'all from Atlanta, GA
I've been wanting to learn the skill and practice of straight razor shaving for years and finally took my first step today. I am down to my last good mach3 cartridge and so I decided to see if I could find them cheaper online. it was only a minute or two before I was seeing ads and sites related to straight razors and I was reminded of my long time interest.
I ended up trying to go an inexpensive route and spent some time on Ebay. I almost plunked down money on Kriegar and Gold Dollar but searched this site first and got some good heads up info first. I decided I would take my chances on looking for a good vintage blade, one with the right kind of steel and ended up finding a Kropp at a total price of 16 dollars. The blade appears to retain a shiny finish with one or two spots of minor pitting, and the edge looks consistent and even. The scales are damaged (hence the price) but I am hopeful that is only cosmetic. I am excited to be getting it in the mail in the next few weeks and once I have concluded I will be able to use it I will be on the lookout for the strop and accessories I will need.
Cheers Y'all!!
