Hi all,
My name is Tim, I'm 26 years old and I live in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
I'm a Sergeant First Class in the Royal Netherlands Air Force, working as an ATC ground controller at Eindhoven airbase.
Reason for joining this forum is my upcoming interest in straight razors. I've been DE shaving for a couple of years now. Before that I used to shave electric and cardridge razors. I have quite a thick heavy beard and a sensitive skin, so I could never shave comfortably before I discoverd DE shaving. Currently I shave with a Muhle R41 or a Merkur 39C Slant. I like to mix them up from time to time. I normaly use a Feather blades. I also own a couple of badger brushes and I have several soaps, creams and aftershaves to choose from. (Seems like its impossible to shave with a DE without buying a lot soaps and creams and stuff :p)
At the moment I have a groing interest in trying a straight razor. Unfortunately I have almost no extra money to spend at the moment. What I do have, is a Parker shavette. I know its not completely comparable with a real straight, but I think it can help me develop my technique and it enables me to discover if straight shaving is something for me. And so far, I like it.
I hope to get my hands on a real straight in the near future, but I want to do it right the first time, so I will take my time looking around the forum and shops etc. (And waiting for my birthday so I have some money to spend ;))
So I will be looking and asking for information about straights on the forum, thanks in advance, and maybe I can share some experiences and/or help someone with DE shaving etc.
Well, I think thats enough for now. Questions, feel free to ask!
Good night!
Tim
