Hello for Guelph, Ontario

Hello All,

I've browsed the forums for awhile and decided I should stop being a hermit and join the community. I've been using a DOVO shavette for the last 8 months and have been loving it. I am currently making the jump to using a SR; I have a Sight Unseen from Whipped Dog on the way. I am a little nervous about stroping and possibly damaging the edge. I have been doing a lot of reading and have watched a fair number of videos and think I have the concept down. If anyone has any tips or tricks about stroping, transitioning from shavettes or SR's in general I would be happy for the help.

Alas... after a ton of reading and video watching, one just needs to jump in and figure out what's going wrong when you get there lol!! All I can say is be patent and enjoy the ride :).

Any idea when your blade comes in?

More importantly, do you have a good cream/soap and brush to go with?

Blade should be here early this week according to the tracker. Right now I use edwin jagger soap and a brush from fendirhan. I've used edwin jagger for awhile with my shavette anand love it

Hi and welcome. Laying the strop on a flat surface to start with can help make stropping easier to learn as you don't need to worry about strop tension. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask.

I received my Sight Unseen today. It says Wilbert on the tang. First shave succesful without any major amputations. The larger edge compared to my shavette takes some getting used to. All in all I am very pleased. Here Is a link to my reddit post. I am having trouble posting pics from my phone.
