    Hello and welcome.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I have been looking thru all the info but did make the mistake of buying a real fancy pocket knife that looked like a straight razor. tho I did manage to shave with it (after 12hours of sharping) but it is now a fancy leather cutting knife since I am a leather crafter. I wound up purchasing a shave ready gold dollar so I will wait for that to get here and give it a go. Now I am searching around to see what makes for the best strop as far as type of leather and pastes diamond powder etc. Not that Im cheap but just enjoy making my own equipment that is personal best for me not the masses if you know what I mean. But anyways thank you for the welcoming.

Hi and welcome. When starting out a basic piece of leather like that from tandy should suffice as you will probably nick it up or cut it anyhow. Crox is s good paste to start with just make sure you get the razor stuff and not the cheap or wood working stuff.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
