Thanked: 17I am going to be in Knoxville in a couple of weeks. Do you have a shave shop? If so, I would welcome a visit to you establishment. PM me with details if you can.
Thanks

I grew up in Columbia. Visit some. Now i'm in Shotgun County right between not far from Twisted Stick and Crooked Creek. Which is an hour from you toward the rising sun.
I'm happy with my King 1000 for bevel setting, then use 4/8k Norton, 12K Naniwa, and then Naturals and possibly a pasted strop. Shell strop.
But that NEVER FORGET that you can get a comfortable shaving edge with the 8k Norton, as many of us have done. I've never really tried to finish on a BarberHone.
My guess is that you've got a bevel and pressure problems, compounded by possibly unreasonable expectations from your limited hone selection. If the AK and the BH were working, go back.
Also, the Norton flattening rock is practically useless in my experience.
I'll hone up your razor if you like (gratis), maybe you can maintain that with the BH and strop whilst you expand your rock collection.
Best of luck. Welcome to the ForumLast edited by WadePatton; 05-28-2014 at 03:14 AM.
