Thread: Hello from Arizona

Greeting all,

Total beginner here on straight razors, I have been wet shaving for sometime now so this will be a whole new experience.

I am happy that the outlay for this new endeavor is not as steep as when I began with a safety razor; though I feel long term this one could end up costing a lot more.

I have ordered the Boker "King Cutter" razor as my beginning blade as well as a straight razor design modular paddle for my strop.

Now to watch a whole lot of videos and do even more reading before the first shave.

Welcome. You're on the right path by studying up, starting in the Beginner section of shaving with a straight razor, watching some videos and asking questions.

Read Lynn's sticky post "Anticipation". It is a real good method to begin with easy baby steps. I did my side burns, and finished with a DE. Next, I began including the neck. Now (soon I hope) I'll try the chin. These guy's are great about giving good advice!

Thanks Jim, that is the plan here also..at least at first my DE89 will carry the heavy load while the Boker gets settled in.

I am out in the Rita Ranch area of Tucson.

That is pretty close to me and i think at least one other member. I live in corona down at the other end of Houghton
