Thanked: 0New from SC
Hello from Columbia SC. Brand new to real shaving but a knife fan for some time. Natural progression I guess? At any rate, starting the process with an American Straight Razor "Straight American" from Straightrazors.com. So far I am extraordinarily impressed with the razor and even more so with the customer service! These folks were great! Wonderful customer service and super informative. Looking forward to learning more!

Welcome to SRP.
The particular brand of your razor doesn't mean anything, just like other brands from the same advertiser it's been assigned to things of vastly differing quality - from razor shaped objects made in pakistan to rebranded razors from quality manufacturers like Dovo and Thiers-Issard.
Hopefully, you've got something that shaves, especially given that you have paid significantly more than razors from well known brands with proven and consistent quality.
If it is a good razor you need it to be well honed and a good quality strop to maintain it sharp between shaves.

Thanked: 0Thanks all! So far so good as my face is still intact! As far as the razor, it's quite attractive from a blade fan's perspective. They must have a quality supplier of blanks. The scales are also flawlessly pinned so I'm quite pleased. It arrived shave ready and despite not having anything to compare it with it gently and smoothly took care of business. Hopefully I can keep it properly stripped and use it for years to come! Quick question though, does everyone lightly coat theirs with mineral oil after each use?

Would love to see some pics of your razor and set up. We're all about visuals here on SRP.
